HYSTERIC MINI GLAMOUR
Hysteric Mini – New York Punk Rock. Hysteric fans love Punk rock. The Creative Director Katsu is definitely an aging Punk. And this was a theme close to my heart cos it was essentially about the 70’s punk scene in NYC – my fave bands scene as a teen. I wasn’t quite sure how to approach it initially – I wanted to feature all of my favorite bands – Blondie, The Ramones, The Cramps, Devo, Patti Smith and Richard Hell etc but I didn’t want to just rip on them – I decided to reappropriate all their names into kids speak – so Blondie becomes Bwondie and then have all the Hysterics characters play acting as the band members. Of course once I’ve done the designs I have absolutely no idea what they’re going to do with them – lots of great stuff as it happened. It ended up being a pretty popular series and we did 3 seasons of it – Lennon’s classic NYC pose got in there somehow. There’s more to come – I haven’t received the photos of the last season yet.
